About Us

St. ThomasCBSE School is run by the Tuticorin Diocesan Association (Registered), an organization of the Catholic Dioceseof Tuticorin. The Bishop, the Most Rev. Dr.A. Stephen, who is the President of the Association, is also the Patron and Manager of the School. The Catholic Diocese of Tuticorin, besides taking care of the pastoral needs of the three and a half lakh Catholic faithful, has also involved itself in the service of the socio-economic development of the people of Tuticorindiocese irrespective of religion or caste. The diocese has been running hospitals, homes for the aged and the under privileged, training centres for women and the marginalized and other such institutions. Education being an important instrumentfor social change, the diocese also runs more than 250 educational institutions.St. Thomas CBSE School is one of the latest self – financed schools of the diocese. It is the new arm of the St. Thomas Group of Institutions. With the introduction of NEET and JEE examinations, the CBSE (Central board of secondary education) system of education has become the most sought-after one in Tamil Nadu. Since all the English medium schools run by the Tuticorin Diocesan Association follow State Board syllabus, the parents who have admitted their children in these schools felt that were denied an opportunity to study under CBSE. This, they opine, had put their children at a disadvantage against their counterparts when they appear for competitive exams. Most. Rev. Dr. A. Stephen, the Bishop of Tuticorin took note of their concern seriously and felt that this situation required an urgent correction and his intervention. Thus he founded St. Thomas CBSE School, adjacent to St. Thomas Matric. Hr. Sec. School, on 10.06.19. The new school has got classes from JKG to VIII Std. The motto of the school is “Arise and Shine”, taken from the book of Prophet Isaiah (60:1) of the Holy Bible. Accordingly, the students are expected to enrich themselves with an all round development in order to serve the society, to be the “light of the world’ (Mt 5:14). The school urges the students to be socially aware and contribute their best to build a more equal and just society in India. With this in mind, the school aims at the integral formation of young people. It means moulding the children into responsible and value based citizens with holistic personality development, which involves

  • Intellectual
  • Emotional
  • Social
  • Spiritual dimensions

To achieve this, the school has the following objectives:

  • Value formation
  • Academic excellence
  • Technical competence

These objectives and goals will be achieved through excellent academic formation, training in Spoken English and soft skills, Creativity, various Club activities, Seminars, Retreats and Workshops.
